Shardiya Navratri 2022 Kanya Puja

Shardiya Navratri is going to start on 26 September 2022 and will run till 5 October 2022.  During Navratri, nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped for the entire nine days.  In Indian culture, Kunwari Kanya are considered as the real form of Goddess.  That is why it is necessary to worship the girl in Navratri.  On the Ashtami and Navami Tithi of Navratri, people worship Kanya.  It is also known as Kanjak Puja or Kumarika Puja.  It is believed that Navratri fast is not complete without Kanjak Puja.  In this, girls from the age of two to ten years are worshipped.  They are invited at home and served food with the respectful government.  After this, by touching the feet, gifts are given according to their ability.  In Kanya Puja, nine girls are worshipped.  Know about the importance and method of worshiping girls in Navratri.

Why are nine girls worshiped in Kanya Puja?

According to Devi Purana, as much as the mother queen is pleased by worshiping a girl in Navratri, she is not happy even with havan and charity.  Therefore, worship of Kanya is considered very fruitful in Navratri.  It is important to worship nine girls in Navratri.  It is believed that by worshiping one girl there is opulence, pleasure, and salvation by worshiping two girls, Dharma, Artha, and the Kama by worshiping three girls, Rajapada by worshiping four girls, Vidya from worshiping five girls, six by worshiping six girls.  Kinds of siddhis, good fortune by the worship of seven girls, happiness and wealth by worshiping eight girls, and worship of nine girls increase dominance in the world.

Method of worship

You should invite girls a day or two in advance for Kumarika worship.  On the day of Kanya Pujan, welcome all the girls at home with respect and chant the names of Navdurga.  Make the girls sit on a clean seat or in a comfortable place.  After washing the feet of the girls, take blessings by touching their feet.  Apply kumkum on the forehead of girls.  Treat all the girls as the form of Mother Bhagwati and feed them according to their wishes. After the meal, give gifts to the girls according to your ability and take blessings by touching their feet again and send them off with respect.
